We felt our first earthquake today!! Apparently there was a big earthquake in the jungle on the border of Peru and Brazil and we felt it all the way on the coast. Kyle and I were making lunch and all of a sudden he stopped and said “Do you feel that??” I said “No what is it??” and he said “I thought it might be a tremor, but it felt just like a big truck driving by.”
We shrugged it off and then started cooking again, and all of a sudden the water in the pitchers started to sway and the ground under our feet swayed back and forth and our whole house was moving!! I grabbed Kyle’s arm and said “Should we go into the street?!?!” and he said “I don’t know, I think it is over??” and then Emily yelled from the living room, “Umm, guys, I think we need to get into the street!!”
We went out into the street and everyone was standing outside wondering if that was the end of it. We stayed out about 5 minutes and then went back in. So crazy!! I had no idea it would feel like that. I am just grateful that we are ok and that not very many people live in the jungle so no one was reported injured or killed.
Our prayers are also with those back in the USA who experienced the Virginia earthquake…. And with the big hurricane coming. There are so many crazy things happening in the world right now, hurricanes, earthquakes, and fires.
These pictures have nothing to do with earthquakes, but they are beautiful pictures of the Peruvian countryside......
